There were some who thought that former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina would be able to break into the top 10 of the Republican field as she rode some fairly significant momentum the last few weeks leading up to the first GOP debate.  She wasn’t able to do that but she more than made up for it by running away with the “JV Debate” and heading over to MSNBC immediately after to absolutely dismantle Chris Matthews.

At one point, after taking issue with her comments on Hillary, Matthews tries to put Carly on the spot by asking to her explain how Hillary lied about Benghazi.  Fiorina’s response was priceless and left Matthews literally speechless.

It’s also important to note that she may have actually benefitted from not being included in the prime time debate.  Several candidates like Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, and Scott Walker almost seemed to get lost in the later debate.  With ten people on the stage, camera time was at a minimum.  However, in the first debate, there was an opportunity to come away as the clear winner which instantly sparks the conversation as to whether or not you belonged in the top 10 group.

Almost every political observer who saw the first debate came away thinking Carly won going away. Both social media and the vast majority of internet outlets said the same thing.

Fiorina has an uphill battle in front of her if she is going to bump someone out of the top 10 but with a few more days like today, that shouldn’t be a problem.
