Loretta Lynch was confirmed by the Senate as Attorney General yesterday which meant it was time to say farewell to Eric Holder.  Today, he held his farewell conference and to say it was confusing would be the understatement of the century.  Here is a clip that will likely be remembered as the most delusional 68 seconds in Justice Department history.

Take a second to pick your jaw up off the floor and let that sink in.  Holder claims that historians will look back and consider his tenure as the “golden age” of the Justice Department.  Why? Because of the Department’s ability to not focus on politics and make decisions without prejudice. In other words, Holder believes his Justice Department will be remembered for the exact opposite of what it did.

Let’s start with the scandals, which aren’t political unless getting caught doing something wrong is “political”.

1. Fast and Furious:  No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, this was a controversial program that authorized the distribution of thousands of guns to Mexican drug cartels in hopes of tracking them to help lead to arrests.  It was a colossal failure which directly resulted in the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

2. AP surveillance scandal– The Justice Department subpoenaed the private phone records of AP reporters.  The reason? To keep the press in check.

3. During the 2008 election, video surfaced of members of the Black Panther party, patrolling voting booths with baseball bats in the inner city of Philadelphia to intimidate voters.  The Justice Department investigated and declined to press charges.

So in Eric Holder’s mind, a golden age is still golden if it is plagued with scandals and controversy.  There’s more.  Holder also bragged about the departments record of not playing politics or injecting a personal agenda.  That could not be further from the truth.

Exhibit A: America is a “nation of cowards” on race.

Exhibit B: Not mentioning Islam in the Fort Hood shooting

Exhibit C: Actively targeting and spying on Fox News reporter James Rosen

Exhibit D: Every single thing Eric Holder said about Ferguson

There is plenty more to talk about but you get the picture.  Eric Holder was purely political.  Every single move he made served as an extension of the Obama administration’s ambitions.  Referring to this era as a “golden age” with all the controversy and scandals that went along with it can only be described as completely detached.

Just for fun, in case you want to learn more about the ideological, partisan, and possibly illegal legacy of Eric Holder. Enjoy
